- Among the lighting technologies, previous statute only limited tax exemption to compact fluorescent light bulbs. HB 1345 effective 7/1/2015 amended the Va. Code § 58.1-609.1 by replacing "compact fluorescent" from the statue, which now provides tax exemption to all light bulbs certified as ENERGY STAR.
